Rival nations are secretly developing weapons that could threaten the future of mankind. The game is set in a sweltering jungle where players must fight for survival by battling relentless natural elements, as well as an onslaught of ruthless enemy soldiers. In 1964, a U.S. government operative codenamed "Snake" must infiltrate mountainous Soviet territory to rescue a scientist building a weapon of terrible power. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is one of the greatest game made for a game system. The graphics, the game-play, the music, this should have been a movie, an Oscar-winning movie at that. In this installment to the already legendary Metal Gear series by Hideo Nojima, you play as Naked Snake aka The Big Boss of the original Metal Gear game and father of Solid Snake, the hero of the other Metal Gear solid games. The setting is in the Russian forest, a great new environment to play in. The bosses of this game are amazing, most notably The End ( a 100 year old sniper with amazing camouflage abilities) and The Sorrow ( a double agent who you fight when Snake dies while escaping Ocelot.) . This game is fantastic. The music, the gameplay, the level of graphics on a PS2.<br/><br/>This is a true epic, the music is wonderful, the end of the game will have you stirred up in a unimaginable way.<br/><br/>The story starts out with our man Snake, being dropped into the Soviet jungle with little equipment. He has to rescue a rocket scientist who requested to be brought to America. But of course, things get more complicated than that.<br/><br/>Graphics: The graphics are incredible for a PS2. Just when you thought the system had nothing more to offer, this proves you wrong. 10/10<br/><br/>Music: The music is incredible, memorable and epic. They fit the action and cutscenes perfectly, frankly, I've never seen a game with so great music. 10/10<br/><br/>:::SPOILER:::<br/><br/>Gameplay: The gameplay is brilliant, the game breaks the fourth wall in game many times. You always have more than one way to do a certain things. Like the battle with one of the bosses, you can get past him in 3 different ways. The detail in the gameplay is evident all the way. You can do so much, this is remarkable for a game. The CQC moves are great, but many moves you don't really bother to use. Why use 5-6 seconds to strangle someone when you can just as easily slit their throats? I would just let Snake have one knife, which he use both in CQC and as the Survival Knife (When not equipped together with the pistol) And if you grab someone barehanded, you can't slit their throats and stuff. The game spends to much time in menus, which could annoying people, but it's not really that much. 9/10.<br/><br/>Story: Greatest story ever in a video game, no question about it. It's great, ties in with the era and all. Name one game outside the series that have a better story and I'll show you a green dog. 10/10<br/><br/>Voice acting: The voice acting is superb, a skillful cast indeed, the only exception is Snake himself which a FEW times sounds a little bad. But that's really nothing to care about. 10/10.<br/><br/>Short: You have to love this game, the story, music, everything. The characters are memorable, the boss fights are great. This game alone is reason enough to buy a PS2.
21. Snake vs Monkey As with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty / Substance two versions of Metal Gear Solid 3 have been released. The original version is called Snake Eater while the later released extended version is called Subsistence. However, this time only the European Version and most likely the Australian Version has been censored. This affects both European Versions (Snake Eater and Subsistence). This time, all US and Japenese Versions are uncensored. The Boss is Ocelot's Mother.<br/><br/>There's really only one part in the game that you find that information at. After you fight Ocelot, and the fight is interupted by the hornets attacking, sent in by The Pain, and Snake jumps down into the crevice. The only annoying part is, how many times you actually have to try calling EVA on the radio before she'll answer you with the part that gives it all away:<br/><br/>Snake: EVA, I wanted to ask you about Ocelot<br/><br/>EVA: Yeah, I know. He's pretty infatuated with you, isn't he?<br/><br/>Snake: That's not what I meant. Aren't the Ocelots an elite unit?<br/><br/>EVA: Yeah.<br/><br/>Snake: So how'd he get to be their commander? He can't be any older than 18 or 19. I can't believe he's already a major<br/><br/>EVA: I heard from the Colonel that he's been given special treatment.<br/><br/>Snake: Special treatment?<br/><br/>EVA: Yeah. He's the son of some legendary hero or something.<br/><br/>Snake: No wonder he seems to have the right stuff So who is this legendary hero, anyway?<br/><br/>EVA: Beats me.<br/><br/>Snake:<br/><br/>EVA: The Colonel never told me. All I heard was that his mother was supposedly shot in the gut during battle and that he was born right there, with bullets whizzing past them.<br/><br/>Snake: A pregnant woman in the middle of a battle?<br/><br/>EVA: That's what I heard. They say that when they stitched her up, the scar was shaped like a snake.<br/><br/>Snake: Well, that's battlefield medicine for you. What about his father, this legendary hero?<br/><br/>EVA: He didn't tell me. I don't think Ocelot's ever met his parents.<br/><br/>Snake: Are they dead?<br/><br/>EVA: Maybe, I don't know. There were a lot of MIAs back then, during the last days of the war. Ocelot probably would have ended up the same way. But he was taken in and raised by GRU and Volgin.<br/><br/>Snake: Because he was special?<br/><br/>EVA: That's my guess.<br/><br/>So, at that point, it's given that Ocelot's parent was a Legendary War Hero, but Snake makes the assumption that it was a guy used in that context, when it was The Boss the whole time; which she later explains how her child was taken to her after she gave birth on the battlefield, during her conversation with Snake at the end of the game, showing her snake-like scar. There are six members in the Cobra unit<br/><br/>The Pain - is a member of the Cobra unit and he has the ability to control hornets at his will, through the buzzing of a queen bee that he keeps in his backpack. Apart from his hornets, The Pain is also equipped with a Tommy gun and grenades, using his hornets in conjunction with these weapons. He also uses his hornets to shield himself and create the form of a body double to confuse and draw his opponents into the open.<br/><br/>The Fear - is a member of the Cobra unit known for his superhuman speed and agility, as well as his freakish, fearsome appearance.
